Fertility

Preconception and Pregnancy Care

Whatever stage you may be at in your pregnancy journey, I am here to help. I have extensive experience with matters relating to fertility, in addition to being a Doula. I also understand the emotional and financial costs of exploring fertility challenges.

In the search for affordable and effective fertility care, naturopathic treatments are available to balance hormones, promote fertility, and naturally decrease stress on your quest into motherhood.

Fertility Challenges

More and more couples are struggling with fertility issues.  Not only is there a significant emotional burden, but the financial burden is also overwhelming.

There are many different factors that may contribute to fertility challenges – hormonal imbalances, environmental pollution, poor nutritional status, overuse of caffeine and alcohol, busy lifestyles and increased stress levels.  With a clinical focus in Fertility and Women’s health concerns, my aim is to help you navigate the fertility world, while providing treatments to help improve your overall success rates.

Being a Doula (Professional Birth Assistant)

As a certified Birth Doula, I have experience working cooperatively with midwives, obstetricians, family physicians and nursing staff to assist women and their partners before, during and after the birth of their child.   My role as a Doula is to primarily provide important emotional, physical and spiritual preparation for birth. I help patients navigate medical terminology, protocols and systems, So they can focus on their health. In conjunction with standard doula practices, I can provide naturopathic treatments such as botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathics, nutritional counselling, supplement review and more. As a government regulated healthcare profession, naturopathic services are covered by most extended healthcare plans. Studies show that women who were given labour support:
  • Are more likely to give birth spontaneously
  • Are less likely to use pain medications
  • Are less likely to have a caesarian section
  • Are less likely to have assisted deliveries with forceps or vacuum
  • Are more likely to be satisfied with their birth outcome
  • Have slightly shorter labours
  • Have greater breastfeeding outcomes
  • Have increased self-esteem
  • Experience less postpartum depression
  • Have babies that are less likely to have low five-minute Apgar scores

Fertility Acupuncture

Fertility acupuncture has been shown to be effective for women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI). Studies have shown  acupuncture to be very effective in improving pregnancy outcomes.

Benefits of fertility acupuncture:

  • Enhances uterine blood flow
  • Improves ovarian function
  • Regulates hormonal imbalances
  • Aids the uterus with implantation
  • Relieves stress and calms the mind

Ideally, acupuncture treatments should start well before your IUI/IVF cycle. However, they are available on the day of an embryo transfer, or insemination.
